Important Note About 24" x 48" Orders

Most fabric for our cork bulletin boards is cotton novelty and quilting fabric which comes in widths of 43 to 44” (selvage to selvage). If the pattern of the fabric is from selvage to selvage, the maximum size of a board can only be 40” (plus 2” for each side to wrap), for a total of 44”. If the pattern runs the length of the fabric, or if the pattern has no specific up or down orientation, then it can be used for the 24” x 48” boards (if available). See photo below to see an example of how a customer covered the area she wanted. She ordered two (2) 24” X 24” boards. This particular pattern allowed us to match the sides of the two boards by aligning the pattern and the ribbons to achieve an attractive and symmetrical arrangement and also give her the measurements she wanted.

Configurations of More Than One Cork Bulletin Board

A great way to decorate with cork bulletin boards is to order several and arrange them in a collage as in the example above when the pattern she wanted could not be achieved for a 24″ x 48″ board. This is also a very good way to get the fabric you want if it is no longer available but several 12″ x 12″ pieces are available. Below are some other examples.

Quality Construction of Cork Bulletin Boards

All of our boards are hand crafted and made with quality construction materials. We start with a backing material of dense compressed paper pulp as found in ceiling tiles to give it more stability and support for the cork and additional material for the push pin to go into. Then we bond it to cork approximately 1/4". The entire surface and sides are then covered with the desired fabric which is stretched to form a smooth fit over the board to retain its shape. If so ordered, the message ribbons are then attached. Our signature or default ribbons are diagonal in two corners of the board (more for the larger boards). The back is then finished with coordinating felt and wall hangers are attached. Optional matching ribbon can be added in a criss cross design or to finish the sides. Larger size boards are also backed with 1/4" plywood under the felt and "D" rings are added for more support and stability.
